ABA Therapy With No Waitlist
The short answer: No. Believing is Achieving does not use waitlists. When families reach out, we respond quickly and intentionally, and services begin when you're ready.
Why waitlists are so common in Illinois
Illinois is genuinely short on behavior analysts. There are about 2,388 BCBAs certified to an Illinois address — 8.8 per 10,000 children, below the national average of 10.3, which works out to roughly 1,130 children per BCBA versus 968 nationally (The ABA Index). Meanwhile demand keeps climbing: about 1 in 31 children aged 8 has been identified with autism, up from 1 in 36 in the previous surveillance year (CDC).
The result is that families in urban Illinois commonly wait six to twelve months to begin ABA (Get Started With ABA), and access is harder still for families on Medicaid (Illinois Autism Insurance Coalition).
Waiting isn't neutral. It's months of a family managing alone during the window when support matters most.
How we operate without one
We're honest about the mechanics rather than pretending it's magic. Because we're in-home only, we have no clinic capacity ceiling and no rooms to fill on a schedule. We onboard deliberately and grow at the pace we can staff well. We recommend hours based on clinical need rather than maximum billable capacity, which means we don't consume our own capacity unnecessarily. And we would rather tell a family honestly that we can't reach their area than add them to a queue.
